After barbiturate overdose, can you be revived with a defibrillator?

So today I met someone who said that they technically "commited suicide" because they overdosed on barbiturates and their heart stopped for a full minute, but then their heart started again after the doctors used a defibrillator, and they recovered. Apparently this person lies a lot and I'm just wondering if this can possibly be true.
