Hi all,

I am new to this forum and wondered if anyone could help me.

Around 4 months ago i noticed I had a swollen tonsil. I noticed this by accident as I was just messing around in the mirror.

The appearance was (and still is) normal tonsil colour and smooth and round. It is only small and does not cause me any pain or bother at all. It is so circular I described it to the doctor as a lump, however she corrected me and advised it was a swollen tonsil.

She first gave me antibiotics which did not shift it. She then sent me for blood work (only for my piece of mind) which all came back normal.

I have since been referred to an ENT who looked at it and said come back in 6 weeks to see how it is then. I go back in 4 weeks time.

Its now 4 months since I first noticed it. It has not grown at all and still doesn't cause me any problems. I feel well, have not lost weight and do not have night sweats. The only thing I have had is a dry tickly cough, which has improved tremendously.

I have done the worst thing possible and looked up the situation on the internet, only to be faced with words including cancer. My commen sense tells me that it couldn't be, otherwise surely I would have other symptoms, but in the back of my mind I am so worried I feel constantly sick.

Can anyone help at all? If it was cancer, would the tonsil look sinister? And would it continue to grow?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
