I'm new here. My Mom was just discharged from the hospital where she was admitted for sepsis (blood infection). She had been in good health, and this was a total shock. They found no source of the infection. She had a CT scan of her abdomen because of her history of large uterine fibroids. She is 54. She has had these for a long time, for as long as I can remember. She said the size of her abdomen has not changed. She has not been to a gynecologist in at least 10 years. I know she has had bleeding off and on vaginally but she never looked into it. She recovered very well from the blood infection and is at home. The gynecologist at the hospital said it looks like sarcoma on her CT scan. We are so scared. We were also told that the radiologist who interprets the CT scan was not aware of her large fibroids. What is the chance of her having this cancer? I am in shock. She does have lumps in her belly that she says have been there forever. The doctors seem shocked. We have an appointment with a gynecologic oncologist at the cleveland clinic in 2 days. One doctor ( a cardiologist) told me her CT scan looks advanced. That ruined my day. Don't know what to think. Please help! Thanks.
