Hi,

My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed 11/10/06 with hodgkins lymphoma. We are just completing our last round of chemo. She has been having yeast infections and now has vaginosis. Does anyone know if this is common and why this happens? We are fixing to start 14 weeks of radiation therapy and wonder how hard that is going to be. This has been a hard road for her but we are managing okay. If you have any suggestions please respond.

  • My daughter has had 3 swollen lymph nodes in her neck. They dont hurt her at all and they have been there for a couple of months now. Latley she has been feeling tired. I heard that could be a sign of hodgkins. Should I be worried?

After treatment, h202 drip can wipe out systemic yeast.

I just found out my greatniece who is 10 has hodgkins lymphoma (in her neck) she has already had surgery to remove the lymphnodes (they found out 2 weeks ago) and has gone through her first bout of chemo & is not getting a shot a day. I don't know what to expect. But please have her neck checked! Best Wishes, you will be in my thoughts & prayers. Donna

  • My daughter is 11.5yrs old the lymph nodes behind her ears are always giant sometimes she complains they hurt but most of the time they are large. Since last Saturday she has pins/needles uncontrollable itching in her feet, sometimes in her hands. I know this is not allergies, it has now been going on for 10 days. She complained days prior that her lower back was hurting real bad. Tonight she came home from church and was crying that as she was walking out to get in the van to come home that she felt dizzy like she was going to pass out and could not breath and her chest hurt, then her skin turned purple and blotchy. She said both her arms/legs were week and that her right thumb also went numb. She has a 99.2 temp. She said she was doing some running before they left but all this should not of occurred after that. she says she still feels week after resting on couch for the last two hours and that her feet and hands are itching. My brother in law said the lower back pain and itching sounds like she could have a parse sp? fracture in her lower lumbar but when he heard the other symptoms that occured tonight he says that would not make that happen and could be two things or could it. My husband didn't share with him about her lymph nodes being swollen. So I wonder if we should rule out Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Does any of this sound familiar?thanks

This has been a hard road for her but we are managing okay. If you have any suggestions please respond. Please get on the bv threads here - they are very helpful. I suggest getting a good quality PROBIOTIC to help rebuild her intestinal and vaginal flora, as this has been stripped away by the chemo. You can find this at a good health food store. I suggest mixing one probiotic with plain unsweetened yogurt (about a tablespoon or less) and inserting this INTO the vagina at night for a period of two weeks. This is extremely effective and yes, a bit messy:o. IME this treatment is much more effective than OTC yeast gels/ointments. Adding an antifungal med to her mix of chemo would be a very bad idea IMO. Have you researched supplements and CAM herbs to help support her therapy? Do you have doctors who are supportive of CAM (Complimentary and Alternative Medicine) therapies? Medicinal mushrooms may be very helpful and supportive, but I would talk with your oncologist. Best wishesDOM

  • Get her to a doctor and have them evaluate her symptoms. Best wishesDOMI plan on doing so tomorrow taking her in for blood work and x-ray of the lower lumbar. I checked behind her ears and her lymph nodes are very large. We have been concerned for some time now about her lymphatic system as her nodes behind her ears are always swollen sometimes really big doesn't seem normal. When we had a scare with our older son in the hospital after a serious auto accident and he had a swollen lymph in his neck very large and we learned about the lymphatic system and all the conditions we have been watching her.thanks

I am now 31 years and was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma at age 16. Very tough age to lose my hair and have the palms of my hands turn dark so it nearly matched my dark skin tone. It was rough but I made it through 6 months of chemo (every other thursday) and a month of daily radiation treatments. The Lord saw me through and am sure He will do the same for you. Get better soon.
