Concerned about the lumps in my neck.

Hi. I'd really appreciate some feedback on my situation, to get an insite into if what I have at the moment is normal or should be checked out further.

I have three lumps at the top of my neck, they are quite big, the size of bouncy balls. I had one to start off with after I had an elevated level of white blood cells. Its been 2 weeks and now I've got 3 lumps in my neck, the reason why I am concerned is I am always breaking out in rash, have to constantly take nausea pills when I get these hot flushes/pale episodes which leaves me very fatigued, I also have been waking up in sweat, and my legs, back and shirt will be very sweaty, and quite damp. I am always breaking out in bruises for no reason.
I went back to the doctor, who felt my neck and said that my left side of the neck felt quite firm and to come back in a month if anything has grown. I didn't feel him touching the lumps, he felt my neck and said it's normal anything less then pea sized is normal, but these arent pea sized.. so I'm confused.
Is this something to worry about? Or just move on and leave it be?

  • Hi Sunshine,I have almost the same problem and am very scared too. You can read my post inderneath yours. What a Christmas, full of fear and helplesness.I dont have night sweats , bruising and any other symtoms as you do. I dont have insurance in USA ( I am from Europe ) and so far in 5 weeks I spent 2700 for doctors and still dont know anything. If I would have so many symptoms as you and no past infection though, I would push my doctor to do biopsy. If mine dont disappear till January, I wil make them do one for me aswell.Good luck!~

  • I think I've got an infection in the nodes of the left side of my neck, the right side of my neck has nodes that are spongy, that I can move round with my fingers, but these balls on the left side of my neck, I can't move around, they feel imbeded. My nodes arent sore to palpate.. they are just hard lumps.. Is there an indication with infection in the lymph nodes? Is it always pain, or can you have an infection without pain? I really need some advice as I can't afford my health to deteriorate any longer..I need a second opinion.

It's good you don't have symptoms, thats a positive sign! But do get checked out if you feel something is not right. If my lumps/symptoms haven't subsided in a month, I'm going to go back and get checked out again as well.. but stay positive, hopefully everything turns out okay =)

  • If I were you I would ask my doctor to organise an ultrasound. It could be as serious as a lymphoma or just a haematoma (which is just a cyst full of blood if you've torn a muscle but usually subsides after a few weeks). The lumps should be checked out and an ultrasound may help to determine exactly what it is. Other types of scans may also be helpful but press for it with your doctor or get another doctor.

  • I've given it time, as I was told..and left it alone, acting as if it didn't exist. I felt something on my voice box.. and my voice went a bit hoarse for awhile, and I got a really bad sore throat that I couldn't eleviate again. My spots came back, I broke out in more bruises.. and blood blisters, lost my appetite and couldn't eat, have felt fatigued, my eyes went funny, and my head went really weird and I almost fell over.. .. to me this isn't normal. Does glandular fever produce the same symptoms? My lump is still the same, hard.. but I've got 2 more up in the top of my neck, I find it hard to explain to the dr..
