Cervical cancer??

I am a 34yo mother of 4, ages 11, 9, 4, and 14months.

In Aug 1999 I had an abnormal pap test that showed I had carsinoma in-situ (1st stage of cervical cancer). They were able to treat it with laser surgery. In Oct 2000, I had another abnormal pap that showed dysplasia, which they were able to treat with by freezing it.

Fast forward to now. I have had no abnormal paps since 2000. My last pap was March 2006. Last month I had a period (after only 23 days!) which lasted on/off for 12 days. This raised a red flag for me because my periods have ALWAYS been pretty regular, 25-30 day cycle lasting about 5 days.

Four days ago, after dh and I had intercourse, I wiped & there was blood. Not just spotting...there was quite a bit. (No pain w/the intercourse) I figured I had just started my period, because it was about that time. But that was it....there was NOTHING else until yesterday when I actually did start. It's been quite heavy, with more clots than I have ever had before.

I am just wondering if I am overreacting, or could this be the cervical cancer back? I never had any symptoms when my other paps came back abnormal. I do have my pap scheduled already, but it's not for 2 more weeks. I have to wait till dh's insurance kicks in since he started a new job. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. TIA

  • ive had similiar past problems to you and can occasionally have some bleeding after sex..the treatments we have had can leave the cervix a little eroded or delicate. as you had a clear smear test in march 2006 i wouldnt worry too much but make sure you do get to that next smear test appointment. you say that you bleed a little after sex and then had a heavy clotty period after four days...could you have been in the early stages of pregnancy?. pregnancy can make the cervix even more delicate....just a thought. i say this as i recently fell pregnant and was having some bleeding after intercourse..i unfortunatly had a misscarriage..but your description fitted my experience. hope this might shed some light upon the problem

  • I think you should get it checked out, but calm down, because of the therapy, could have triggered early menopause
