Can someone please tell me how you can tell the difference between apraxia and severe speech and motor disabilities? I have a student who is non-verbal and very limited with physical movements. His parents claim that he is of average intelligence when they use faciliatated communication. They use FC because they say he has apraxia that affects both speech and motor movements. I have not seen any evidence of FC working in my classroom. This all seems very strange to me and I'm not sure where to go with this. Any ideas on the best treatment for something like this?
