I was diagnosed with Lyme disease after 5 tick bites. One doc said neurological and two con-infections. In the past few months my symptoms have heightened. Out of control vertigo, headaches, neck pain, vision disturbances, etc. The neurologist was looking for lesions from the Lyme (he actually should have run a SPECT instead) and found the CM1 which is 4mm.
The neurologist basically laughed at my concern over it saying it was too small, so it was not a problem! Wow! When I told him I read of 6 cases of Lyme triggering the CM, he laughed again! I read on the conquerchiari.org website that CM CAN and IS triggered by related or unrelated medical conditions. I feel the bacteria from the Lyme triggered mine.
This neurologist also insists upon performing a Lumbar Puncture to check for Lyme antibodies. I learned that LP's are highly contraindicated with CM because of the low pressure in the CSF and could result in herniation of the malformation, or other potentially catastrophic outcomes! Why did a neurologist not know this? Scary!
So, my question is, has anyone else been diagnosed with another disease that triggered their CM? Is there any documented proof anywhere from the medical society I could gather together to present to my insurance company? Time is of the essence! Thank you all and thoughts & prayers go out to each of you!
