  • I am sorry to hear of your father's diagnosis. My brother, age 55, was diagnosed 4 months ago and his health has deteriorated rapidly. He was able to walk with assistance in December, but was having trouble with his speech and memory. He has been unable to swallow, speak or control his movements for the past few months. He was bedridden in a very short period of time. I'm not sure he has any vision at this time and cannot communicate in any way. I do travel to see him weekly and he does seem to calm if I read a book or talk softly to him. I'm not sure if he understands. He has a feeding tube, but the hospice nurse said he may not absorb the nutrients in the future. I guess the only thing I can say is that the disease seems to progress quickly. Keeping your father as comfortable as possible is the best that can be done. If he can still help in making any future decisions or recommendations it would be best to have everything in order. I am so sorry! His younger sis
