I am Male, 23 yrs old (dont smoke, drink etc - otherwise fit and healthy). Over a month ago I had sudden onset of a severe head pressure/pain (worst ever) while at work (computer programmer). At the time I felt like I was going to collapse - was very frightening.
I went to hospital, they performed neurological tests, blood tests, CT scan and Lumbar Puncture to check for tumour, hemorraghe etc. All negative.
First week after initial onset, I could barely walk. Had to lie flat for most of the time. Very heavy head when I got up, weakness in arms and legs. Abdominal pain after eating. Fatigue, sleeping most of the day.
Now, Five weeks on I feel alot stronger but still get pains in legs and joints, ringing in ears and the burning pain at the back of head still persists. Still suffering from fatigue.
The diagnosis given is either meningeal irritation/encephalitis with the cause possibly viral infection. I have been referred back to a neurologist, hopefully I can have another CT/LP to see if anything has changed.
At the minute im concerned with the burning pain at the back of my head. I would of thought this would have gone by now and am concerned it might be something serious (bleed, cyst etc).
Hopefully someone has encountered something similar, would love to hear anyone else's story.
