Hi,

I have a broken rib at the front of my chest. The bones have overlapped and making a lump in my front. When I move they rub together especially when I am lying down/sleeping. I've broken ribs before and this doesn't hurt that much in comparison.

The doctor says that there is no treatment and that eventually the bones will join and reform so well that the lump from the top bone that is sticking out will dissappear.

Does anyone have any expereince of this being true and how long it takes, or should I get a second opinion?

Big thanks!!

  • Hi there i am sorry to hear of your broken ribs it is the most painful experience having to get up out of bed. I recently broke a bunch of my ribs twice so far this year and it takes about six weeks before they join back just nothing you can do for it only get a tight strap and wrap it around your chest for support that helped me alot and taking lots of calcium forever!!! good luck and i hope you feel better soon ....
