I currently have a swollen lymph node on my face in front of my ear right around where my jaw connects. It has been swollen since last night and feels like the swelling goes all they down to my clavicle, and only on my left side. It is tender to touch, no ear, or throat pain, no nasal congestion or eye irritation. I already went to my doctor who said I was fighting some sort of infection and to take ibuprofen and drink plenty of fluids. She did not take any blood tests and didn't seem to be so concerned about my lymph node. I don't feel satisfied with her answer. Has anyone had a swollen lymph node in the face before. I am concerned because I have had Mono before along with a family member having Hodgkins disease.

  • Swollen lymph nodes in general are not really much to be concerned about. They swell all the time when fighting infection. It is probably an infection you are fighting. If it were Hodgkin's, I believe the lymph node would not be tender to the touch. It might be an ear infection that you don't know you have. Ibuprofin won't help, but ask your doctor for antibiotics. If you follow through with those and it still doesn't go away, then see your doctor again.
