severe anemia?

My nurse practioner said normal range is 15 percent and my level is 3 percent...tells me i may have to have a blood transfusion...is this amout dangerous? She Says she will check me again in 3 months...am i safe to wait this long or should i see a real doctor

  • I have myleodysplastic syndrome which causes various kinds of anemia. When my hemoglobin is in the 7th percentile, I get a blood transfusion. Blood transfusions are safe and it takes about 2 hours for 1 unit to be transfused. I would get a 2nd opinion, the 3 seems way to low to wait for 3 months. I wish you well.
