I have been experiencing lighthly scattered petechiae since October and have been to 3 internists, 3 dermatologists, 1 family practitioner, and 1 hematologist all who have looked at them and pretty much blew them off as nothing to worry about. Three of these professionals have said they dont believe they are petechiae but the dermatologist at the Mayo clinic confirmed my beliefs that they are (although, he didnt think there was any reason to be concerned). He told me that in many cases they dont know the cause for them. I have had tons of blood work (CBC, platelet function, liver function, autoimmune, hepatitis, mono, etc) and everything has come back normal on all tests (most were done more than one time as well). Although I have had these tests done I can NOT let it go. I worry sick about them every day and have let them totally take over my life. I just want a definitive explanation as to why I still have them almost 7 months later. I will say that they come and go (especially if I push on them, which I am assuming is causing the blood to be reabsorbed back in to the tissue) almost daily and that they arent in clusters and are maybe 5-10 scattered across legs and stomach primarily on any given day. I have just read to much that has me living in horror that eventually they will tell me it is caused by something terminal. It would also ease my mind to know if anyone else has these and are told not to worry. I just dont know another soul. Thanks for listening!Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
