Non-painful lumps on neck

I'm 22 years old and I recently noticed a lump on the back of my neck. I noticed it about a month ago. It's not painful and hasn't really gotten any bigger, but now I noticed a second bump right next to the first one. I was recently tested for HIV, which came back negative. Thank goodness. I went to see my doctor, but he said to just let him know if I start having night sweats or weight loss, but didn't tell me what those symptoms would mean. I hate to look up those symptoms and freak myself out by all the possibilities it could be, but I thought maybe someone could shed some light. For about 8 years, I've had a lump right behind my ear that hasn't gotten bigger and isn't painful. I've had that checked out and my doctor said it's just a fatty mass that doesn't hurt anything. I'm not sure if these two lumps are from that??? Just grasping at straws. It's rather nerve racking...

  • Update: I recently found another lump on my neck. It's in between my ear and the center of the back of my neck. It's within my hairline. It's not huge, but it's definitely there. All of the lumps are on my right side. I have nothing on my left. I don't have insurance, so I'm afraid to just go to my doctor and have him tell me the same thing he did before and I pay him another $55.00 for nothing. That adds up! Thoughts? Anyone?

  • Update #2: I called my family doctor today who told me to see a hematologist. I'm going to see that doctor on the 14th of January. I found yet another lump on my right side. It's farther up, actually on my head itself. Slightly paniced.....

  • Not gunna lie to you, weight loss & night sweats is Hodgekin's Lymphoma. I would go straight to another doctor and say "Dude, I need a biopsy. I'm worried and I wanna know what the ***l this is." I recently found a lump at the base of my skull, on the right side of my neck. Not painful, but I've been getting headaches. And I keep getting told it's just a tension knot in my neck.

  • I thought about it being Hodgkins, but I haven't had any other symptoms. No headaches, no night sweats, no weight loss, nothing... My mother had a lump on her neck that was benign, but the tentacles were growing into her spine so they had to remove it. I'm kind of hoping these are as easy as that, but I have more than one lump. It's so hard having to wait 2 weeks until I can go to the doc.

  • wow.. im not gonna lie im pretty freaked out right now. im only 17 years old, and for about a month and a half now, ive had this bump on the back of my neck, pretty much on the base of my spinal cord, near my head... id been convinced it was just a knot in my muscle, and that i could go to the doctor and get a referal to the chiroprator, and get it all fixed. but its been giving me all these headaches, im dizzy and disoriented all the time, i cant focus on anything, and for a montha and a half, 2 months now, ive been having these crazy nightmares and im waking up in the middle of the nigth terrified, sweating, and i try to shake it off and go back to sleep, but when i do the nightmare picks up right where it left off. i thought it was just stress related, like the bump, but when i went to the doctor, she seemed pretty freaked out and is sending me to the ENT, and then to get an x-ray.. it didnt hit me until later that it could be something serious. cancer runs in my family.. my mom has had it 3 times, her sister 1, and my dads mom and sister have each had it.. and they carry the gene for it. my mom doesnt carry teh gene, but my dad hasnt been tested. needless to say with it all adding up im pretty freaked out. im still waiting to get the xray and find out whats going on, but im terrified that i have cancer. im trying to do research and figure out what symptoms of brain cancer are.but obivously, thats a bad idea. im turning myself into a hypochrondiac.even if the lump is a tumor, and it is benign, still.. im scared of the surgery. its so close to my spinal cord, right next to the brain stem, it looks.. what if i do have to go into surgery?? couldnt one wrong cut permantantly damage my vision, hearing, ANYTHINGfor life?i dotn know what to do anymore. im incredibly scared and i could really use some help figuring out whats goign on. :(oh.. and i dont know if its from my anxiety now of whatvers going on, butive been shaking like crazy. my hands will just go off and i cant stop them.and i live in a very stressful environment.. so nothing is really on my side here. help?
