I have an unusual health condition(IF the doctors are right that is). I am 30years old female, since i was a kid i had thick blood. High platelets and anemia. Or they were sure i had thick blood. I gave birth last year, and i bled for hours and hours and hours...Hospital performed bleeding tests and it turns out my von willebrand factor is not working properly! It is a type of hemophilia. I have 2a type Vwd, and at the same time thick blood. My bleeding time is elevated (140, normal 11-13) but my platelets remain high (around 600). I am not sure if i should take aspirin for the high platelets, or take meds for vwd disorder. The weird thing is that when my platelets are so high, usually my red cells and hemoglobin are very low. Which, if im not mistaken indicates internal bleeding(could happen, i have vwd). Doctors can not figure out what exactly is going on, or if i should be classified as hemophiliac or thrombophiliac
