hello everyone.
I am a 20 year old female, I work out at the gym at least 3 times a week and work as a server/bartender. I try to eat well and take a multivitamin everyday. I find that at least once a week I get some sort of a charlie horse or muscle spasm in my calf muscles. I have been told that this may be due to the fact that I am low in calcium. Can anyone shed some light on this subject??

  • I was told by my doctor that charlie horses are caused by lack of potassium.I get these only when pregnant or during menapause.Bananas and potatoes are good food sources for this.A multivitamin a day sometimes is not enough.Hope this helps.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject?? Charlie horses can be caused by a calcium, magnesium, or potassium deficiencies. In order to know if you are deficient, the best way to get tested is thru a minerals analysis called EXAtest. I used to have frequent muscle cramps, but have completely eliminated them with magnesium supplementation. Hope this helps, Maxine
