 I'm 27 with very good health. I was told that I have this disease. The pain is so severe sometimes I can't cook, wash, type, basically do anything. I was reading online with the website and I feel that I need to talk with other people young/old that may give me some idea or maybe together we can research further to see what's wrong..Doctor's don't know how I got it be I have it..so anything would be great even just a positive word..thanks Ms. Concern

  • my husband has burgers disease. he was dignosed in 1981. hes 55 yrs old now. Burgers is the deteration of the blood vessels in the outer extreamities caused by smoking or caffine, common in men more than women in their fortys. the only help is ambitationand there is no cure . He was sent to Denver, Co research hospital where they found what he had after his fingers had turned jet black and the pain was so severe. it started with his fingers and hands going to sleep, then turning yellow to white. he has had two fingers removed and two operations where they cut his smypathic nerves to help currulation of the blood flow. this is a life threating disease with a life span of seven to ten years. some how my husband has out lived that, thank god and is in a remission state. he has come out of that with problems from time to time, and has had black spots on other digets that went away after stoping caffine. he chewed tobbacco for many years but quit when his fingers where taken. If he were to chew or smoke today he would be dead within a few months. there is a lot more i could tell you. his doctor has two others that he treats. his doctor is in another state, but very good. his name is Moses Mendez in ElDorado, Arkansas. you can reach me us at our email address coin_71055@yahoo.com.hope you will get the help you need.betty

  • I have been diagnosed with this disease and went to a specialist in Cin, Ohio. I have this in my feet and I was told to stop all tobacco, and caffine. Started taking 1500 ml of l-Arginine(amino acid from GNC) and 2 folbic acid tablets (perscription) perday. I had an ulcer on my right leg and I wore compression socks. I have cleared these problems up and to this day only show the dark color of my skin on my feet.

I was seen by a vascular surgeon. The above medications that you took, did they help your burger's disease? The surgeon said I had to quit smoking, but he never said anything about caffine. Thanks! • To everyone that reads this, My mom has this disease and it greatly upsets me the pain and conditions she is going through. They say there is no cure for this disease, but I can't help but think there is something that they can do or find to do to help the people with this disease. I'm mainly writing to anyone that can give me beneficial information on what my mom can do to at least help ease her symptoms and pain. She used to smoke, but doesnt anymore. She told me that she might have one every now and then, and that she has a cup of coffee every now and then, but from what she says she still has soda's on kind of a regular basis, although she's drinking a lot more water than she ever use to. I tried to explain to her that she needs to completely stop having any caffiene or tobacoo whatsoever, no easy task im sure to someone that's had soda's or cigerattes everyday in their lifestyle. If anyone has had experiences in this disease getting better due to specific medications or doctor's or specialists they have seen they feel is a great help please respond to me and let me know, so that I may present these options to my mom. I'm mainly writing this so that anyone that reads it that has experiences with the disease getting better will hopefully respond and hopefully it will help my mom as well. Good luck to everyone that knows anyone that has this, it is horrible. Hopefully they will find a cure. My email is montalbo28@live.comPlease feel free to respond in any way. Thank you

Why even post that? Smoking is an addiction (yes, more addictive than heroin even). Quitting isn't easy but it is so dangerous to the health, for so many reasons, to continue. Some facts for smokers who wish to quit: (1) You tend to panic when you realise you mustn't have any more, but the cravings only come about once an hour and only last a few minutes.(2) You don't worry about cigarettes when you sleep, so you're free of the craving for 8 hours or so. Go bed early for a few days - even nap during the day if you can.(3) There is no nicotine left in your body after 48 hours and the smoking craves reach a peak at 72 hours. After that it slowly gets easier, hour by hour, day by day. Just take each hour one at a time. If it gets hard, go outside and take deep breaths in fresh air. Drink cold water too. Any exercise helps, even just walking.
