I am a 25 yr old male with crohn's disease. I apparently have had high ALP levels (130-150) for the past 3 years. They do not appear to be increasing. I had an MRCP done and i was told it indicated some inflation by my gastro doctor. I had an ERCP completed and the doctors performing the procedure said that based on the MRCP and ERCP they cannot come to a conclusion. They did note some area of inflamation in my bile duct but cannot at this point call is PSC. They said it MAY be early indications of psc but if i didn't have crohn's a PSC potential wouldn't be on the radar. I have had crohn's for 12 years and have had some arthiritic symptoms and have had a fistulae that was treated with cipro for year and has since been not treated for the past 2-3 years. I have no symptoms or pain. I am wondering what this could be if it is not PSC. COuld it be related to the fistulae or be a random swelling for no reason or what. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks,

  • Since Crohn's effects the entire gastro-intestinal tract, it's possible that it's "just" inflammation due to Crohn's and will not become a problem in the future. My husband is 38 and has had Crohn's for almost 30 years now. He was diagnosed with PSC about two years ago. They opened up the bile duct and placed a stint, then had to go back in and take it out a week later due to complications. Since then, he's had a few attacks (so to speak) where he itches like mad and where his liver numbers are elevated, but a week of antibiotics gets things back under control. So far, there has been no damage to the liver itself, so that's good. Don't let it worry you too much. Get your liver counts checked every so often and if you start having itching problems, get to the doctor.

  • Sounds like your bile ducts need cleaning. I have done a natural liver cleanse which involves Epsom Salts which opens up your bile ducts and flushes out the stones without pain and it only takes 1 day. You can do it yourself at home. Also changing your diet to vege's and maybe doing a detox to flush out toxins and bringing back your immune system. Also have a look on the internet for Amp Molo, just put it into google. This is great too. If you are interested in the Liver Cleanse email me on alatina@bigpond.net.au and I can email you the receipe.
