Hei You all

Due to my job, i have to sit a lot behind computers and driving in my car. About 1 month ago after a long period of sitting, i realized there is a pain in my left buttock. A few days more and it became worse. I changed my habits, i sit less, although i still have to sit at least 1-3 hours a day, i walk to the shop (earlier i drove there). For a while i thought it is going away. Now i realize, it isn't enough, it isn't going away.
The pain itselt is just few centimeters from the tailbone to the left and below. I have read many posts, forums, medical articles, i haven't found articles which describe my problem accurately.
I can pinpoint the pain. In the mornings, there no pain, it starts coming after half a day or so. When i sit more, the pain starts coming earlier. After an hour behind the wheel or computer, when getting up from a sitting position i have problems streching my back. Then, if i go for a walk for about half an hour, it goes away, but soon starts coming back. I get relief when lying on my stomach or on one side.

Has anyone had similar problems and how do you treat this kind of a problem? Could it be related to spine, disks or is it a strain muscle in my buttocks?

  • I also have the same problem with sitting @ computer. However, I have same pain if I walk too much or stand for too long. I would check out sciatica cus it sounds like the same symptoms. My pain is also in left buttock.

  • This is classic for sciatica symptoms. Please try acupuncture - it is very very effective for sciatica! Best wishesDOM

  • HeiThanks for the answers, kitcat48 and acuann. However, I don't know if in my region anyone can help me with acupuncture. I'll check it out though. The straight leg raise test, when raising right leg, indicated pain in the left side - is that correct symptom for sciatica also?

  • Yes same thing happens with me cus its like all connected in buttock region. With me its like a feeling of pinching and also too, you tend to depend on right side of body more to avoid aggravating left sided pain

  • HeiI live in Estonia. Tried Acufinder, nothing. But I was pointed by a friend to www.akupunktuur.ee, I think i'll contact them. Can You say anything about acupressure also? Has anyone tested that too? Also, I am going to check out Yumeiho maybe.By the way, I have been doing a lot of exercises from Jenny Sutcliffes book for the last three days, I feel a little better. I havent been sitting more than 2 hours a day. I threw a blanket on the left side of my car seat (It was propably a bit lower than the right side) - now I don't feel that bad after a drive.
