I am 21 but I have no insurance and I am unemployed right now due to the pain. I had to quit my last job because the pain was causing me to lose focus. I have numbness in my right side of my body from time to time and now I have numbness, pain, and burning sensations in my left thigh. My back hurts all the time and it is hard to walk most of the time.

How can I get an MRI without having to dish out the money? I really need to get checked out but it seems like the ER I go to they can't help me. They just give me a number to call and those people can't help unless I have like 1500 bucks to spend. I can't even pay for food sometimes let alone 1500 bucks for an MRI....

I had severe sciatic pain nearly 15 years ago, and a friend suggested acupuncture. I was in severe pain and nothing allopathic docs gave me helped, so I said what the heck. I had only two treatments and my pain was GONE! I am not kidding - it was very dramatic. Not everyone has such a dramatic result with acupuncture, but I would say 85% of my patients report relief, and yes, sometimes it is dramatic. Please visit www.acufinder.com to find a practitioner or TCM school near you (schools will offer reduced rate treatments in their advanced student clinic). Acupuncture works! Best wishesDOM

  • I have the same problem and really only thing that helps is pressing and massaging the area and moist heat. If it gets really bad I take a muscle relaxant

  • If you live in the US most state funded hospitals, most of the bigger hospitals that have the bigger ERs and more options for health care have a way to get charity care. You will need to find out if they have a financial counseling department or a financial aid department. If they do go in there in person (don't talk to them over the phone!) with your ID and the date you last worked and tell them what happened and they might help you. Most hospitals will pay for the hospital fees and you will be responsible for the physician fees, which isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things.

  • I have had sciatica for about 8 years now. There are stretches that help during flare ups, but what has helped most is chiropractic adjustment, and yoga. Any chiropractor should be able to adjust your back to help with sciatica, and yoga is likely the cheapest method for back relief

  • You should visit this website for further information on sciatica: http://www.hlth.org.uk/ . I have found acupuncture very helpful myself for this condition.
