I have degenterative disc disease. L4-5 and L5-S1 herniated three years ago and I had discectomy's for these. I was in modertate pain for two years afterwards so I had disc replacement surgery a year ago on L5-S1 and did very well for 6 months :o but after a flight trip in September 2006 had severe pain and pressure in my lumbar area, with shooting pains down both legs ever since:( . I can't walk, sit, or stand for more than 15 minutes without pain and pressure so severe I have to lay down for any comfort. Narcodic pain meds don't touch it. Physical therapy makes it worse.
I don't have another herniated disc (but L4-5 bulges some), my disc replacement is ok, and my facet joints show some inflammation so the doctors have done nerve blocks and steriod injections on my facet joints at L4-5, L5-S1, and sacrum joints but none of these have helped.
I'm very frustrated and have gone to several doctors for second opinions but none have any other options or suggestions. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and COPD also.
Is there any other potential diangnosis I am missing?
