Since she had strep throat she is having problems w/ feeling lightheaded & even passing out @ times. Also having problems w/ spells of bladder frequency. Cardiologist sd. heart was fine . We r seeing a urologist @ end of the month. When she is feeling dizzy or lightheaded her blood pressure drops , upon standing, also feels soo weak in legs she can't walk or stand , then she gets better w/ fluids. Her psychiatrist sd. that maybe it was an Autoimmune reaction ? Anybody have any ideas please help !!

  • Sounds like POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). POTS makes one dizzy and may make one faint. POTS patients often have coexisting BP issues with neurally mediated hypotension (NMH) being the very common one which I think your daughter has also got. The fact that you said that she gets better with fluid helps distiguish it from many other illnesses (unless she's dehydrated) and makes it clear it isnt just low BP causing faints. POTS patients often have low blood volume and having a lot of fluid can help. POTS is more common in teens and can occur after a virus or something attacks ones system. http://www.dinet.org/ and http://www.chronic-illness.org/blog/postural-tachycardia-syndrome-pots has a list of good POTS links.
