Elevated EBV, swollen lymph nodes HELP!

Before Christmas, I became very ill with swollen lymph nodes in the back of my head and in my neck. I was tested for Mono (which I had in the past). My mono test showed that I had it in the past (had the antibodies) but did not have it at present. My EBV was greater than 750 (normal is less than 18). Can anyone tell me if they have heard of this with any autoimmune disorder and what tests migh be helpful? I am still ill and my bloodwork yesterday CBC, etc. all came back normal.

I have daily headaches, nausea, fatigue, malaise and occasional low-grade fevers. I feel like crap.

A lymph node biopsy over the holidays came back negative for lymphoma or cancer elsewhere, that spread to lymph nodes.

They called it 'reactive' lymph nodes - but they do not know TO WHAT.

Now my doc wants to do a CAT Scan on my head - due to the headaches. I wonder if this isn't a further waste of money - since my blood work came back normal.

Please, any thoughts would be appreciated!

  • Hey-I feel your pain-I now have chronic mono and CFS. I also have swollen lymphs, leg pain, stuffy nose, brain fog, pain in chest, temp runs 95-96 but I feel hot most of the time, I go from constipation to diarhea, and I keep infections but I get allergic reactions to almost all antibiotics. But I am negative to all allergy tests. But i get rashes. The doctors say I am sensitive and the last one said he didn't know what I was. I am so tired I can't move after minor exercise. 20 minutes on my bike and that's it-and I use to ride 20 miles! This has been going on for 8 years and it gets really old. The only advice I can give is to monitor what u can do and still function. You only have so much juice and must decide where to spend your energy. Best of luck and God Bless.
