5 percent chance?

A close friend of mine just found out that her recent partner came back with a diagnosis that he has a five percent chance of having HIV. What does that mean? Could there be other factors that would make the test results read that way?

Of course time will tell, but I am worried about her, and want to know more info from an outside source.
