I am a 30something young gal who had managed asthma until 2 years ago. My husband and I moved from the NW to Upstate NY. Since this move, my asthma has progressivly gotten worse..I had a scratch test done of the area allergens and found I am allergic to 17 trees and 4 grasses that grow only in this part of the country, I have had 10 xolair injections and it is not helping....My allergy/Asthma specialist is sending me to Boston for a confirmation of Churg Stauss Syndrome but I am not confident this is the problem as I don't have many markers of the disease...My asthma flare ups are random and not linked to anything we can track and do not respond to asthma meds as they should...they can be very severe...I am on Advair, Astepro, singulair, allegra, xolair, xopenex inhailer and neb, pulmacort neb, Ipratrapium Bromide neb, benadryl allergy, prednisone and mucinex. Because of the high prednisone, my blood pressure has increased and now I am on two meds for this...azor and bystolic. Has anyone had anything like this?

I have been dealing with the same problem, just not quite as severe as yours. For about five months my asthma has become increasingly worse. I ended up in the ER...was on prednisone, but shortly after I stopped taking it my symptoms came back. I was very frustrated...I couldn't go anywhere without my nebulizer and had to use it every four hours (but felt as though I needed it every two hours). I am currently taking ipratropium bromide, Advair, albuterol, singulair, as well as a nasal spray, and heartburn med (because it was beleived that heartburn could be contributing to the asthma). I have also begun allergy shots once a week. I am finally beginning to notice a difference, albeit a sublte one. Incidentally, I was allergic to just about everything they tested me for, the top four being cats and dogs (we have a cat), ragweed (it's everywhere) mold (we recently got our basement cleaned out because of a serious mold problem). My point of all this blabbering was to suggest allergy shots, but I'm sure that's already been done, and to let you know you're not alone. Good luck.
