Arthritis of the Heart Wall. Does anyone know?

Hi, I am 24 years old and have been having chest problems for 2 years. I was first told I had Pericarditis after having pheumonia, but after several months with no improvement, my doctor sent me to a rheumatologist. She believes, but can't be certain, that I have muscular skeletal arthritis of the heart wall. I have been unable to find anything on the net about this. Has anyone out there heard of this or know anything about it?
I would love to have my questions answered and know if there is anything I can do for it.

  • Hi Anna - try Google searching: Arthritis of the Heart Wall. I found quite a bit, only briefly looked at the first page of results - raft of info out there. Could be but could also be a 'wrong dx'...Ha! Many patients with AS - Ankylosing Spondylitis also have hear problems: AS is one of the 50 odd arthritic conditions. No, don't hitnk you have AS, just mentioned in passing, so as you know that heart 'can' be involved with arthritis.Check out some more and also go to 'specific' arthritis forum groups - this isn't. You need 'specific' and pose all your questions there.Hope you can find the answers - could be arthritis but could be a one of a number of other conditions.Mollywho also has arthritis with myriad attendant problems...

  • Anna RA can effect the heart and chest muscles, ribs, and tendon in different ways. The possibilities are endless. Were you tested for the Rheumatoid Factor (RF)? You need to have a simple, non-invasive, economical test called an electrocardiogram. This test can show abnormalities in heart wall motion, which should/could be present if you do have arthritis of the heart wall. I have heart disease and osteopath. There are over 00 types of arthritis! Good luck, Rj
