I have had on occasion very sharp pains in my rectum during the night occompanied by the need for a bowel movement. When I have the bowel movement, it would be very small. Now for the last 4 months, I have had bleeding in my stools. Very thin stools on occasions with mucus, but most always there are lines of bright blood on the stool with blood on the toilet paper. When this first began the need for a bowel movement was several times a day. Now I have 1 a day, but with the bright blood and there is always the mucus and clots. Sometimes the stools are normal in color and other times they are a darkish color, but always with blood streaks. There is also the presence of gas when having the bowel movement. I still have the stabbing sharp pain sometimes and if I strain at all during the movement, there is lots of blood on the tissue, but it does not hurt during the movement. Right now I have the feeling of needing to have a movement and the lower part of my stomach feels like I might have a upset stomach, but it will only be a little gas with blood mixed with mucus and what appears to be blood clots. please help with any information...thanks ..js98204

  • Bleeding can occur as the result of a number of different conditions, some of which are life threatening. Most causes of bleeding are related to conditions that can be cured or controlled, such as ulcers or hemorrhoids. The cause of bleeding may not be serious, but locating the source of bleeding is important.I found this article online it might answer some of your questions regarding rectal bleeding:http://www.colon-cleanse-constipation.com/bloody-stool.html

  • I have had the same syptoms as you and feel completely miserable many days. I had a colonoscopy and a biopsy done to check for some samples and was told that it was ulcerative colitis. Sounds strange and disgusting with the amount of blood i loose with my bowel movements and the blood clots that come out rectally almost mimicking a female's period. I also have stool that is wrapped with mucus or when i have severe stomach cramps, i pass gas, and a large clot of mucus comes out. Try reading this book called The Maker's diet as to what food you should avoid.

  • You are likely backed up and need a colon cleansing. This can be done at home with an enema kit purchased at your local pharmacy. Additionally marijuana can help lossen up the bowels as it has relaxing properties. To ease your pain try acupuncture.AcuannDOM

Except I would not consired the drops of blood to be "clots" but rather mucus! Like thick, but what is funny, is that when I have a BM, in the morning there is no blood but with-in a couple of hours it just like the poster above stated, gas with blood and mucus! I have no blood "in" the stool ( tested) just around the stool and then on the paper! So my question is what ever happened with person?? There is no PM function so i can not PM them and ask??
