  • I just wanted to know if anyone knows wat causes pain in the rectum that travels down the left leg ive been dealing with it for a few days and im miserable!!Please have your doctor check for a rare cancer called chordoma. Sacral chordomas are rare, slow-growing tumours that are amenable to surgery, but unfortunately often diagnosed too late. Symptoms such as pain accompanied with neurological symptoms including parasthesia, urinary or bowel disturbances and weakness in the lower limbs should be checked out. I don't know if they must be looking for a chordoma or is they just missed it in my mother for nearly 7 years. But she first had your symptoms years ago and the tumor wasn't found untill it was 13 cm! An MRI missed it only three months before it was found. I am sure you probably don't have a Chrodoma. But the shooting leg pain you desribe was followed by her not being able to go to the restroom. And things just got worse and worse from there. It did take years for the symptoms to "stack" up. But it is too late now. And she was seeing one specialist after another. They were trying. I guess it is just so rare and the MRI's don't show the tumor very well.

  • I agree with the replying person, please do get checked. This isn't something you want to mess around with. Hopefully they'll find some other unrelated answer. But I do want to mention, should they in fact find chordoma, that there are many good, effective treatments available. Be sure to check out as many as you can, including proton therapy -- though often thought about as experimental, it's actually not. And it often can minimize the harmful side effects of more traditional radiation treatments.Just something to think about!
