hello im 19 and very confused and mad at the medical system, about a month and a half ago i started getting constipated and very bloated, i still am constipated but not as bad, my bowel habits are a bit off, i have been feeling sick, tired and i look pale. i also have a dull pain deep in my rectum, im not sure if its in my rectum or my colon, i can also feel that there is something there...i also have noticed red on my bowels but im not sure if its blood or food...it looks like red flakes, almost like tomatoe skin...

i feel the worst in the mornings...the doctor told me it would take 6 months for me to get a colonscopy...i have had blood tests and bowel tests and they all came back negative.... but im just very very worried i have colon cancer or a tumor....

i have pretty bad anxiety too so it might be making me believe i have a life threating illness but i am having all those symptoms and if i did not have anxiety i would still be very scared.

  • Where do you live, in the US? If it's the UK, i would definitely recommend just going private and paying for the colonoscopy. Rather put your mind at ease than wait for the national health service, you will wait forever.

  • 6 months, that's crazy. Find another doctor or clinic that specializes in checking colons. There are many. I've had many of the tests and it's no big deal. Actually the prep (drinking the cleaning out stuff) is the worst of it. You do this the night before. The next morning, the colonscopy procedure is simple, quick and for the most part.....painless. They'll give you a mix of pain killer (opium based narcotic) and probably Versed (for relaxation). Once your in "la la" land, they'll insert the colon scope and check things out. You'll need some one to drive you home and the same day off from work or school.
