Hi, I'm an 17 year old male that has Ulcerative colitis and I figured out that food sensitivites play a big part in flare up control...

I had a flare but I'm weaning of Prednisone and I'm almost fully off of it. Now that my immune system is going back into functoin, I noticed my old allergic reactions coming back...

-gas and soft stool
-redness in face, especially cheeks and forehead
-acne, all located on forehead
-burning of nostils when I breathe
-itchy throat/roof of mouth... This is an odd one.. I have to stick my finger in my mouth and scratch the far back and roof of my mouth. Or make some werid sucking pig nose... I do this subconciously when i sleep and it wakes me and my family up.

  • You might get checked for Celiac Disease. Hopefully they will order the gliadin IgG antibody test along with others. If this is not close to zero (even if they don't find Celiac Disease) you may want to go on a strict gluten free diet.If you get nowhere, you might try an IgG food panel (that is IgG NOT IgE). If you are having a problem with dairy and it is not lactose intolerance, you may find you are having an autoimmune reaction to one of the milk proteins and maybe some other things. Good Luck, Bear:cool:
