My itching started about 5 months ago after a trip to oversesas. I have always been a itchiy person as I have very dry skin, but this incident was much worse and it became all consuming. It is mainly in my stomach, back, chest and neck, and with constant scratching, the skin became very dark, thick and scaley. I do not have any rash, but the skin gets red when I scratch and then turns dark and became numb in certain area. I read that I was destrying nerve endings and collagen. I was diagnosed with H Pylori bacterial infection and I have gotten rid of it since then. I have found several research articles online that discusses H Pylori and itching correlation. I have also been diagnosed with Multiple Connective Tissue Disorder which is an autoimmune disease with Lupus, Sclerderma and Rheumatoiod arthritis where I have little bits of different diseases --oh joy!
After doing research online and reading this blog, I have come up with the following which seems to help:
1. Allegra in the morning, Zantac in the evening
2. Stinging Nettles every 3 to 4 hours
3. Pure aloe followed by Gold bond lotion to the area. Good luck!
