Hello. I had surgery about 6 months ago for anal fistula and about a month after that I started itching on my scalp, armpits and pubic area. The scalp itch is the most frequent and itches all the time. The only time I get some relief is when I take antihistamines, such as clariton, but I experience side effects, mainly the contraction of my food passage making it extremely difficult to swallow food or even water. However, the antihistamine eases the itching discomfort for about 3 days and then its back to itching again. This problem is unbearable and I am getting very worried that the cause of the itch might be a reaction to something else causing severe damage to my body. I have been to my GP several times and she has recommended all sorts over time and nothing seems to work. I intend to see an allergist or a dermatologist asap and hopefully get to the bottom of this problem. In the meantime, if anybody has any suggestions, please share it with me.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
