Itchy Skin

In the last three days my chest, neck, back and legs have been quite itchy. It comes up quite red and tiny pimples or bumps come up. After a while it will calm down and then another patch will start up.

First I thought it was some sunburn that I got a few days ago but since I did not get burnt on my back and legs then it cannot be that I don't think.

I get hayfever and it is summer at the moment, could sudden changes in temperature cause it? Also, every summer I lose a bit of head hair (for about three or so weeks I shed more hair than usual for some reason) and thought maybe my skin was being irritated by my hair.

It is annoying especcially at night, because it is hard to settle down to sleep because it is uncomfortable.

What could be causing it?

  • Did you use any sunscreen? Sometimes certain lotions have Paba in them. That causes bumps and irritations in many people.

  • It may be bed bugs. I had a similiar problem and went to my dermatologist. I have developed an allergie to dust mite bites. This apparently can happen to anyone, I am 41 and have a very clean house. I have encased my bedding with allergie protectent coverings and this has really helped. It is really hard to find information on this problem! For me I thought that they looked and felt more like mosquitio bites. These bites are usually in a row or a group and itch for about three days or so, so annoying!

  • What these guys told you sounds likely. I have had little hives a couple of times that turned out to be from my laundry detergent not getting rinsed out of my clothes well enough - just another possibility. I haven't had this problem since I started buying fragrance, etc-free detergent and I am using a better washing machine.

  • My dad also has an allergic problem. He sneeze like crazy, get itchy eyes and runny nose and he can’t breathe. He will be going to Germany very soon and I am worried about him. What if he fell ill there and don't know where to buy medications and all these things. I searched for different informations on the net until I fell on a Pharmacy Directory (advertising link removed - moderator) with a list of city and region names. That will make the task of finding the nearest pharmacy easier. Now, I hope that my dad won't need to use it because I don't want him to fall ill there. I am so worried for his health especially because of that allergic problem.:(
