Itchy and Sensitive Skin.

For the past few month my skin has become extremely itchy. It started with just being itchy, it would occur everywhere on my body. Basically if I start itching somewhere, then I start itching everywhere. Then it turns bright red and in some spots, the skin will raise.

My skin has also become overly sensitive. If I lightly scratch it, or if I slap it, or even if something touches it too hard then it turns bright red. It happens everywhere on my body and is really embarrassing.

I've been on the antidepressant, Celexa, since April but the symptoms only started occurring in August. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Is your skin dry? This could be caused by simply dry skin...or allergies.

  • for the last year I have experienced extremely itchy skin all over my body; also itchiness in the nostrils. I had to wear very soft silky clothing because my skin became very sensitive. Two weeks ago I replaced tea, which I drink with milk and coffee, which I drink with coffee creamer (powdered) with warm lemon water (one fresh lemon) first thing in the morning, followed by warm lime water (half a fresh lime) at least twice a day for a week and all the itchiness disappeared. I resumed drinking the tea and coffee and the itchiness came back with a vengeance after a few days. I don't know whether it was drinking the tea, coffee or dairy that triggered the itching or a combination of all of three, but what I do know is that I am quitting the tea and coffee and dairy products and from now on warm lemon and lime water will be part of my daily routine. I hope this helps
