I am a 42 year old female.I have never had this problem before.
(did have a rash on lower back this past winter and was treated with a strong hydrcortisone)
I have been itching with no rash since June,2010. First it was just my palms and the soles of my feet. Now it can be any where on my body, armpits, inner forearm, ears. Went to my doc and got all the blood tests to rule anything serious out, I wasn't messing around, I wanted to know what and why I was having this problem.
Now I am trying to eleminate certain foods and see if it helps. Taking antihistimines when needed at night, thank goodness it hasn't interfered with sleep. I feel terrible for those who have that problem. I am scratching so hard and bruising or causing myself to bleed. It looks horrible.
Haven't switched soaps, using clear and free laundry detergent. Not using anything new. Have been in the pool a handful of times this summer and do itch more while in the pool.
This is just so weird, and frustrating!!!!!!!
Thanks for your time. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you came down with shingles the rash can be on both sides of your body...try taking Lysine and see it it helps. I too have been itching with sharp needle like pains all over my body and i took antihistamines and OTC creams and nothing helped until i realized that I had shingles years ago and it felt like this...so I popped a couple of lysine today and it has help immensly..hope you feel better:)

  • I had exactly this problem for four years then it got very serious, even though I was taking different typs of histamine tablets doctors and hospital consultants said that they couldnt help unless I had a rash, they did say that it could be the statin tablets but changing them made little difference. I read a number of allergy books and decided that the cause was something that I was eating so I made a determined effort and stopped eating anything that I thought could cause the cronic itching.I believe that the cause is two or more combinations of the following Sugar, Sweets, Chocolate, Pickles, Onions, Garlic, Salt, Vinegar, Beer (yeast), By stopping these I can become free of itching within three weeks. WELL WORTH TRYING
