For several years I have delt with very itchy arms/legs with bumps appearing on my hands, arms, and ankles. These bumps would open when scratched and a clear liquid always came out. The itching on my legs and arms showed no sign of a rash. I believe I have made several threads on this message board with photos in the past but I cannot recall much.

For a health experiment, 27 days ago, I gave up soft drinks and caffeine completely. I only drank water, milk, and orange juice.

During these 27 days I completely forgot about the itching and bumps because it completely disappeared and didn't bother me.

Tonight, while at the moviehouse, I decided to order a Mr. Pibb. I figured one soft drink wouldn't be such a big deal.

About halfway through the movie, my hands literally began breaking out with the fluid-filled bumps between my fingers and on my palms. My hands are itching like crazy right now as I left when the movie was over and came to this discussion board to report my findings.

This cannot be a coincidence. I hope anybody who is experiencing the same symptoms can at least try giving up caffeine to see if it helps your problem.

Can anybody else confirm these symptoms being related to caffeine? Does this have something to do with my kidneys not being able to process this?

I am 21 years old and only began seeing these symptoms about two years ago.

  • You are onto something here. After changing my eating lifestyle entirely, my Dermagraphism/"Write On" Disease hives have rarely appeared. Most recently, when this happened, what did I just "cheat, just this once, by indulging" in?" a Pepsi! I am also very sensitive to dairy, white flour products, and sugar. No ice cream for me ... absolute!
