Hello all, my first time here and hopefully someone has an idea what I might have.
About 2 weeks ago I started itching under my arms and noticed a small rash under each arm which in about 24 hours spread to cover my chest, back, sides and upper legs. The starting bumps looked like chicken pox but slowly went together to form whelps and they itched terribly. The whelps continued to form and spread for 2 more days and the itching got worse.
The 3rd day I went to work and by the time I got off my shirt had irritated the bumps/whelps badly and they were all a dark red and itched so bad that I scratched all the way home. It was late and so the only place open was the ER by my house so I went there and after 6 hours the Dr on duty came in for about 15 minutes, he looked at them and touched them then said it was either contact dermititus or rocky mountain spotted fever so he wrote me 7 prescriptions and sent me home.
I tried the antibiotics that he gave me but did not try the xanax, beta blockers or predisone because the pharmicist told me to be careful with those drugs and don't take all 7 at once otherwise I would be back in the ER :)
After 3 days on the antibiotics the rash started to go down my arms and legs and I found out that was a side effect of them so I stopped them. The rash on my arms and legs looks differant then the original one (its just small raised pink/red bumps and no whelps) so I am assuming this was from the medication.
The original rash started to go down the following day and after the whelps were gone I just had pink discoloration under my skin in huge patches and if I pressed on it it turned when then the pink returned a few seconds later. This color pretty much covers my entire chest, stomach back and upper legs. The last thing is 2 days ago my skin started peeling where the original rash started, not peeling off like after a sunburn but just white flaky skin forming over the discolored areas. Each day this dry area spreads a little more.
Also 2 days ago I went to a general Dr. that was refered by a co-worker but he did the same as the ER and spent about 10 minutes looking at it then took 4 tubes of blood and told me to take the predisone and have a nice day. He wrote it down as excema and dermititus. I really want to avoid the predisone since the pharmicist warned me strongly about it so I have not tried it yet.
The strange part is for the 2 weeks this has been going on I have not felt sick, no fever and no pains. At the ER my temp was listed as 98.1 and at the Dr's office it was 98.3 so its not like some strange infection has invaded my body, hopefully :)
Any suggestions or guesses from anyone who has experienced anything like this? Its really getting annoying now. I tried to look it up online but kept getting all these serious disease sites and my only symptom out of the 15+ they give is the rash.
If you follow this link http://dermnetnz.org/scaly/pustular-psoriasis.html the far right picture (light blue clothing at the top) is almost exactly what mine looks like except my skin has a little more pink to it that that persons white skin but I was told that was due to clothes irritating it and holding in heat.
Thanks in advance!
