My son had some blood work done because he keeps a snotty nose and sinus infection. His blood work came back that he doesn't show any immunity to having the DTAP shot, he is 3 and has 4 doses of this shot. On the Prevnar he shows immunity to 3 out of the 7 sub categories- Any ideas as to what causes this? His red, white and all of other blood work was good. HELP, I am scared to death.

  • Please contact your local medical school (the immune department) and get a recommendation from the professors of specialists in your area for immune deficiency. This is not a common problem and most doctors do not know much about immune problems. I am 38 and was just diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency. The earlier you catch it, the better, trust me, Your son will live a better life once under treatment, and although you may be scared, it is better to know then not know with this condition. I would not vaccinate him any more until you get the immunopath laboratory tests done, the lab tests are IGA, IGG, IGE, IGM and it's subclasses done at a hospital. Please seek out your nearest immune specialist, if at all possible get ask your nearest medical school or go on the Jeffery Modell Foundation and they have referrals in your area. Don't fret, I lived 38 years before my diagnoses, but I wish I would of been diagnosed years ago, would of saved me many, many sinus infections, bronchitis, spine infections and sepsis.
