Can Allergies Cause Abdominal Swelling?

Over a month ago I noticed my stomach feeling bloated. I feel like something is swelled up inside me and I'm not pregnant. I also have rashes on my arms and eye lids which I'm not sure are related. I've been very tired and weak, out of breath, and sometimes feel like I could collapse. I also feel like my immune system is out of whack. I had tonsillitis when this all started.

I went to ER a couple of weeks ago because of the swelling and weakness and all of my blood tests came back normal. My next test will be a colonoscopy, but I don't know that this will reveal what's going on if it were to be allergies causing the stomach swelling.

Has anyone heard of intestinal or abdominal swelling due to allergies? I can't find anything on it on the internet.

Thanks!

  • :) I think you should look up angioedema. I don't know if it is related.Hae is a type of angioedema which often causes swellings in the abdomen and other places in the body. • You might ask your doctor to check you for Celiac Disease. :eek:Hopefully he will check your gliadin IgG antibodies among others. I these are not close to zero you may want to go on a gluten free diet whether you end up with a final Celiac diagnosis or not. Good Luck Bear:cool:
