im addicted to benzodiazepines
i take them for nightmares, night terrors and social anxiety
it helped (I actually had a social life and a proper sleep pattern) though
I started to take up to 8mg a day (you shouldn't take over 2mg)
I've been off of them for a week and a half
the night terrors, nightmares etc.. are back
They are much worst

I'm terrified to sleep and now I want to start taking the benzos again
There has to be another solution

I feel like I've failed........:(

  • Don't know what you were taking, but there is a great difference between benzos and their equivalence in dosage. There is no such standard as to a daily dose of benzos in general. Valium at 10 mg. is generally considered to be equivalent to .5 mg. Xanax, 1 mg. Lorazepam, .25 mg. Klonopin, (Klonopin varies here as it is not a true benzo but is sometimes considered equivalent to Xanax, sometimes twice as potent; depends who you ask). Anyhow, I know your pain and applaud you at your time without medication. It really is ***l, I know! I was at a prescribed daily equivalent of 240 mg. Valium a month ago and am now also off medication. I am quite miserable and know what it is like to feel like you are failing when you wish to be back on medication. It is especially hard to turn back when you feel you have already put so much suffering behind you. I do not recommend, nor can I find any literature that supports the taper I was put on by a very unprofessional N.P. I was neither asked why I was on the medication, nor was I followed up with in any way. My particular schedule was an attempt at using my 10 day supply in hand to completely get me off. It was not calculated by any other standard, nor was there any consideration towards any possible risk. I was directed to go to the E.R. if I had any problems! Can't afford that, nor can I afford to see a different professional for a second opinion. Enough about me...I'm in ***l. You are not failing and dealing with your particular situation as you experience it is your best bet. I wish you luck. EDIT: Oops, just noticed your post is a couple years old. Hope you're doing well.

  • This is one of the most beneficent sites in this area. Look in here over again and promote to all, because it is quite recommended. It is rare that the admin pages so cared for the treatment of reliable data on the page and its layout.
