Break Outs

I am 23 years old and have bad skin. I am always breaking out, I have tons of blackheads that are visible, and my face is constantly greasy. Even if I wash it, it is greasy again within minutes. Nothing dries it up. I have tried a number of products, including prescribed ointments and facial washes with salilyc (sp?) acid....no luck. I am tired of having breakouts. Any suggestions?

  • My son has this same problem and his doctor put him on minocycline. It has made a world of difference. You should ask your doctor.

  • I have been using Proactiv for about 1 year now and it works really well. I used to get a lot of acne around my mouth. It is really easy to use, but it really dried out my skin at first, so it may help you with the greasiness. It is kind of expensive, but I haven't been able to find anything else, so it's worth it for me. Hope this helps!!! :)

  • Watch out with minocycline; it's an antibiotic and long term usage can cause problems like fungal overgrowth, colitis, and bacterial resistance. It is not a cure for acne, unfortunately.Pro-Active seems to work for many people. Accutane also works, but is only available by prescription and not without its own possible side effects.

  • I, too, have suffered from excessively oily skin for many years. As I get older (39 now) my skin has definitely become less greasy but I'm sure you want help now. I swear by these oil blotting tissues by Shiseido. They instantly degrease and even add a bit of light powder to your skin. As well, drink a lot of water. Good luck
