Recently, my doctor prescribed Bactrim to treat an upper respiratory infection, I still have the infection, but my skin looks beautiful! Anyway, thought I'd pass that along. I was wondering if anyone else ever noticed clearer skin after taking prescription Bactrim?

  • Watch out when using these medications for long periods of time. Doctors don't like to mention this however prolonged use of antibiotics can cause fungal infections and promote bacterial resistance- it's not just the acne-causing bacteria that's being killed off but ALL the bacteria, including the helpful bacteria in the intestines that digest food. If you/your child has severe acne, consider something like Accutane which is basically orally injested Vitamin A (trentinonin). Accutane is not without its own possible side effects however it is not an antibiotic, and in many cases the results are permanent and accomplish FAR more than antibiotics.
